Profile
  • Sukyung (Sue) Park is a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at KAIST, Korea. She earned her BS, MS, and PhD in Mechanical Engineering from KAIST and the University of Michigan, respectively, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Harvard Medical School.
  • Her research aims to understand human movement through descriptive dynamics models and to develop wearable healthcare devices informed by movement mechanics and control during walking and running. She has pioneered Biomechanics-Informed Neural Networks, a framework that embeds motion dynamics into AI architectures to achieve accurate estimation of joint kinematics and kinetics from minimal wearable sensors.
  • Her recent work extends to multimodal sensing, integrating continuous glucose monitoring and body heat flux data with biomechanical insights to establish novel biomarkers for muscle quality, bridging biomechanics, metabolic physiology, and AI for personalized healthcare and performance management.
