Profile
- Professor Meeyoung Cha is an Associate Professor at the School of Computing, KAIST.
- Her research interests include data science, network science, and computational social science leveraging artificial intelligence. Her work addresses pressing social issues such as fake news detection, poverty prediction, and fraud detection, and has been cited over 18,000 times.
- Professor Cha was the first scholar in Asia to serve as a Visiting Professor with the Data Science Team at Facebook Headquarters (U.S.). She is a recipient of the Young Information Scientist Award from the Korean Institute of Information Scientists and Engineers (KIISE), the AAAI ICWSM Test of Time Award, and a Commendation from the Minister of Science and ICT.
- She also leads the Data Science Group at the Institute for Basic Science (IBS), where she holds a concurrent position.
