Profile
- Hyung Jun Kim is currently a Professor at the Graduate School of Future Strategy, KAIST. His research focuses on the Climate–Water–Food–Energy–Economy nexus, extreme weather and climate, climate change adaptation and mitigation, coupled human–natural system modeling, satellite remote sensing, data science, and machine learning.
- His work has been published in leading international journals such as Nature, Science, and Nature Climate Change, contributing to both academic and practical advancements in climate and environmental research. Prior to joining KAIST, he served as Assistant and Associate Professor at the Department of Civil Engineering and the Institute of Industrial Science at the University of Tokyo (2012–2021), and as a Visiting Researcher at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (2017–2020).
- He earned his B.S. in Atmospheric Science from Yonsei University, M.S. in Atmospheric Science from Yonsei University, and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Tokyo.
